So what does Peterborough's Downtown Mean to You?

As the Examiner reports, Peterborough's BrandHealth—an advertising agency located in the heart of downtown—has launched a new campaign called "Make It Your Own Downtown" as part of its efforts to rebrand downtown Peterborough, and draw more attention (and people) to the downtown.

As well, the campaign is meant to encourage us to start thinking about what this vital area means to the fabric of the city.

Earlier concepts for BrandHealth downtown rebranding campaignWhat would you do to rebrand our downtown? Or, is it just fine as is? Give us your thoughts.

The first thing I would do to make it "my own downtown" is to eliminate the awful looking garbage/recycling units. They are not only very urban looking but the holes are way to small that most people I would guess wouldn't want to try and attempt to put anything in them. I don't often bring my Golf Digest or Rolling Stones with medowntown to recycle them so I'm not sure how often the magazine slot is used...

On a related note I would enforce the sign bylaw if it still exists. If your sign sucks, it ain't going up. Most signs in the downtown are pretty good. Wildrock, Splice, the new ones above the market hall stores are also solid. Most restaurant/pubs signs are creative and look sharp, Knock on Wood looks good and there are many others that are great too, but far too many look like they belong more on Lansdowne St. then in our downtown....

Congrats to Brand Marketing for a neat fresh campaign. I think it's great.....
