Generations Of Kids Will Now Get To Use Natural Playground Named After Peterborough's Carolynn Collins

Carolynn Collins was an amazing, inspiring teacher at St. Paul Catholic Elementary School in Norwood. She lost her life in a car crash in February 2014 at the age of 29.

Born and raised in Peterborough, Carolynn graduated with her B.A. and B. Ed. from Trent University in this city she loved. She adored children and impacted thousands of kids during her time teaching at various schools.

Ms. Collins was a beloved teacher at St. Paul Catholic Elementary School, with a passion for the environment. So family, friends, colleagues and students decided to honour her by raising money for a new, active outdoor play area for the school. In lieu of flowers, mourners supported the playground project so that generations of students could enjoy playing in the outdoors.

A special dedication in her honour will be made Monday, June 15th as the school unveils its new natural playground and outdoor classroom.

The playground design allows for creative play and features logs and rocks and a large sand pit. It also affords space for a vegetable garden and a large arbour with benches on each side.

So now, kids will get to play and learn in a natural playground inspired by an amazing person that will not be forgotten in this beautiful tribute.
