PTBOPics: Police Week Booth At Lansdowne Place

This week is Police Week and you can learn more by popping into Landsowne Place and chatting with the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police at their booth. Each day of the week focuses on a different aspect that police services provide in the community. There are prizes to be won, such as a USB memory stick, a kid's jersey signed by Mark Savard and a bicycle. Also pick up pamphlets such as The Canadian Edition of the Little Black Book of Scams to help learn to identify fraud.

Jay Scotland Teams Up With Dave Devall For A Great Cause

Clockwise from left: Graham Hart, Wally Macht, Jay Scotland & Dave Devall

The Salvation Army have been setting up their Christmas Kettle Campaign annually for the past 118 years, with the first kettle in Canada operating from St. John's, Newfoundland in 1906.

On Saturday (December 18th), CHEX TV's Jay Scotland and Graham Hart, along with former broadcaster Wally Macht and former CTV weatherman Dave Devall, were on hand at Lansdowne Place encouraging donations to one of the many kettles throughout the city.

Many folks gathered and listened to the festive music from The Salvation Army Canadian Brass Band, and placed a donation in the kettle. (You can also donate online.)

Spotlight: DAVIDsTEA at Lansdowne Place

Located at the top of the escalator at Lansdowne PlaceWhen I heard that Peterborough was getting a DAVIDsTEA, I was ecstatic. Although we have lovely little local tea shops such as the Teeny Tiny Tea Room and The Magic Rolling Pin in town, the nearest shop that offers a huge selection of loose-leaf tea is an hour and a half away.

I showed up when DAVIDsTEA opened their doors last Saturday (June 5th) at Lansdowne Place to buy some Kinrin Matcha, as I was almost running out. Although it is fairly expensive, it is far and wide the best tasting of the Matchas.

The friendly staff at DAVIDsTEA offered me a sample of the tea of the day and let me take in the aroma of any of their teas on display.

They had plenty of tea accessories for sale as well—travel mugs (with integrated tea press), kettles, mugs, glasses and natural sweeteners such as honey and agave nectar. You can purchase single teas, 50g bags or 100g tins. You also get a discount off your next purchase if you bring your tin(s) back in.

I’m sure to be a frequent visitor, especially when I’m in need of my favorite fix. Earl Grey. Hot.
