Innovation: Fleming College Students To Utilize New Space In Downtown Cube

The Greater Peterborough Innovation Cluster (GPIC) has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Fleming College. Fleming will occupy 1,000 square-feet of dedicated space for use by business and technology students in the newly expanded downtown incubator located in the newly launched VentureNorth building at 270 George St. N.

“At Fleming, we are always seeking new ways to enhance work-integrated learning," says Maxine Mann, Dean of the School of Business and the School of Trades and Technology. "We know the actual nature of work is changing with innovation, entrepreneurism and synergies amongst technology and business being keys for the future success of our students and our communities. This space recognizes this change and allows our students to gain the skills needed for this cultural shift."

The Applied Project space will be integrated into the current youth zone for entrepreneurs under 29 years of age, which is located on the 3rd floor of the VentureNorth building.

“We’re very excited about the deep level of collaboration between GPIC and the Fleming College staff and students," says Michael Skinner, President & CEO of the Innovation Cluster. "Our past partnership through the FastStart program has already proven to help generate the awareness among students about entrepreneurship as a career path."

17-Year-Old Peterborough Actress-Model Kelaiah Guiel Has Lead Role In New Episode Of Paranormal Witness

Seventeen-year-old Peterborough actress Kelaiah Guiel is a rising star. Kelaiah, who appeared on Degrassi: Next Class earlier this year, is now starring in Season 5, Episode 7 of Paranormal Witness.

The episode premieres Wednesday, September 14th at 10 p.m. on the SYFY Network and airs a second time on Thursday, September 15th at 12 a.m.

Kelaiah Guiel: Rising Star

Paranormal Witness is a series that brings to life the real stories of people who have lived through paranormal experiences that defy explanation. Kelaiah stars in the episode called "Nebraska Fiend" which documents the hauntings of the Pracht family who encounter the ghost of 19th-century murderer Stephen Richards in their new home. Kelaiah plays the lead role of Rhiannon, the eldest daughter of the Pracht family who is tormented by the ghost of Stephen Richards.

Kelaiah, daughter of Terry Guiel—the well known Executive Director of Downtown Peterborough—has been with STRUTT Model and Talent agency for over a year now. She has recently acted in a short film in Toronto and has done many fashion shows, including the largest student run fashion show in the world: "Mass Exodus". In February 2015, she was flown to Vancouver to act in a international commercial for BMW.

Starring in this episode of Paranormal Witness is another big achievement for Kelaiah on her path to international success as an actress and model.

"Being apart of the show was an amazing experience," she says. "I auditioned May 31st and started shooting within weeks. I was able to test myself with the emotionally challenging material—which was a first for me since this was my first speaking and lead role. I have to thank Linda Kash [also from Peterborough] for being a great mentor and acting coach."

We wish Kelaiah all the best as her IMDB resume continues to grow.
