You Can Now Order Your Free Lockage Permit For 2017 On Trent Severn Waterway
/Parks Canada has announced that boaters can now order their free lockage permits as part of Canada 150 celebrations, giving you an amazing chance to explore the Trent Severn Waterway and other waterways this year.
The free lockage permit for boaters is valid for the entire navigation season in 2017 and provides passage through Parks Canada’s historic canals like the Trent Severn.

There Was An Epic Super Bowl Party On Chemong Lake That Included 16 Foot Outdoor Screen
/About 50 people watched an epic Super Bowl game in an epic way, taking in New England's comeback win over Atlanta in front of a 16-foot outdoor screen on a beauty night on Chemong Lake near Peterborough.
The screen for the projector was a 16x9 wall made of plywood, and painted white.
"We couldn't have asked for a better day," co-organizer Lee Gynane tells PTBOCanada. "Perfect weather, lots of action on the lake with PolarFest happening as well, and to top it off the greatest Super Bowl in history."
Here were the fans arriving beforehand on the ice for a "Chemong Lake tailgate" party...
Oh, and if any of the spectators got cold, they could retire in to this nearby ice hut with all the amenities to warm up...

/We are doing a triple axel with the news that the green flag is up on the Trent Canal, meaning conditions are safe to skate there!
The City of Peterborough tweeted out the news Friday (January 6th) confirming it is now open but adding that the ice is a little rough as it hasn't been flooded yet...
Bring Your Canoe To The Peterborough Lift Lock June 26th For Epic Event
/There is an epic event called Lock 'n Paddle happening June 26th at 1 p.m. at the Lift Lock on National Canoe Day that paddlers do not want to miss.
Lock 'n Paddle is a partnership between Parks Canada, the Canadian Canoe Museum and the Land Canadian Adventures, with the goal being to see how many canoers they can squeeze into the Lift Lock.
As part of this special event, lockage will be free for participating paddlers from Lock 20 - Ashburnham to Lock 24 - Douro. In exchange for free lockage, the Trent-Severn is encouraging paddlers to bring canned food items to support the local community.

/UPDATE: February 9th -> Now that cold weather has returned, the green flag is back up at the Canal, the city has tweeted. So sharpen those skates!

UPDATE: January 9th -> Due to all this rain coming down and the milder temperatures for the next couple days, the City of Peterborough has put the red flag back up. So no skating.
