PAGE ON STAGE Reading of RADICAL by Charles Hayter

New Stages is proud to present our final presentation in the wildly successful PAGE ON STAGE Reading Series, RADICAL by Charles Hayter, a play about local doctor Jenny Ingram's mother, who was a true pioneer in the research and treatment of breast cancer. In 1972, Dr. Vera Peters challenged the mostly male medical establishment and their preferred treatment of breast cancer and her vision of breast cancer treatment laid the foundation of modern patient-centred care today.

Playwright Charles Hayter is both a practising oncologist and a professionally produced playwright. His play, Eldorado Town: The Port Hope Play was hugely successful at 4th Line Theatre. New Stages Artistic Director, Randy Read, has assembled a dynamite cast: Maggie Huculak, who has worked with all the major Toronto theatres, Tarragon, Soulpepper, Necessary Angel, Theatre Passe Muraille, Theatre Columbus; Stratford star Tom McCamus, who most recently was seen in the leading role in Stratford's King John at Galaxy cinema showings; Patricia Hamilton, theatre veteran and Rachel Lynde in CBC's Anne of Green Gables and The Road to Avonlea; Dianne Latchford from the Murdoch Mysteries and Queer as Folk and actor Richard Barlow, who last appeared with New Stages in The Comedy of Love and Hand in Glove.

New Stages Page on Stage reading of RADICAL will be performed Sunday, April 26, 2015 at 7:30pm in the Showplace Nexicom Lounge. Tickets $20, students $10 and can be purchased at the Showplace box office or by calling 705-742-7469 or online at www.showplace.org
