Youth Project Launch & Open House

Kawartha World Issues Centre (KWIC) is pleased to invite members of the media and the community to an Open House and Youth Project Launch. The launch will include acknowledgement of financial support received from the Government of Canada and the Ontario Trillium Foundation, and opening remarks will be provided by MP Maryam Monsef and MPP Jeff Leal. It will also share information about two new exciting opportunities for local youth to develop new skills and ways of working together. The funding recipients, Seeds for Justice and TRACKS Youth programs, work to engage Indigenous, newcomer, and settler youth in leadership training and dynamic education on social and environmental issues, through different ways of knowing and using a peer-mentorship model.

Date: Friday, March 31, 2017 Time: 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM Location: Hobbs Library at Sadleir House 751 George Street North, Peterborough Additionally, the launch will celebrate support from our community partners, including Community Foundation of Greater Peterborough, Kawartha Credit Union, New Canadians Centre, Nogojiwanong Friendship Centre, Trent University, and agencies of local First Nation communities including Hiawatha and Curve Lake. Live music by Lance Isaacs, refreshments, and a youth-friendly space with casual opportunity to meet the awesome program staff and volunteers will make this an event you don’t want to miss!
