Jason McCoy (Country) | Aug 26
Before Jason McCoy was winning awards (3 SOCAN Song of the Year awards, 19 CCMA nominations, and five Juno nominations) and before he began touring as a member of The Road Hammers, the Barrie-born country artist, partial to AC/DC, performed at legions, Saturday night dances, and small-town clubs before being discovered by country music writer Henry McGuirk and signing with MCA Records. "The cowboy culture really stuck with me…I had some sort of connection with these guys" McCoy said, citing Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash to lesser known artists like Ed Bruce and Wynn Stewart. "I just didn't have a voice for rock 'n' roll."
