Make a Beaded Puzzle Pouch

A puzzle pouch is a traditional style of leather pouch that can be a bit of a ‘puzzle’ to get into. Using the friction of strips of leather fed through little slits in the flap this clever closure method keeps your valuables securely hidden inside, and at first glance it can seem like there is no opening to get them out!

Make your own puzzle pouch with the guidance of expert instructor, Andy Bullock*. Choose your own, unique design and embellish your pouch with beautiful glass seed beads. Learn about sewing leather and traditional beading while you spend the day in the Museum’s Preserving Skills Gallery.

No previous beading experience needed, but here is some manual dexterity required to stitch one bead at a time.
