And now for some good news (because let's face it, we need some)... This month, the first in the Peterborough Poetry Slam Summer Open Stage Series featuring the Peterborough Youth Poetry Slam Team! That's right, for the next few months, we're throwing out the rule book! Who needs F%#&ing rules. What we want is your words and your truth and whatever is burning up inside and pushing to get out. Bring your poems, your costumes, your music, your props, anything goes. Bring your weird, your wonderful, your magical and your mundane. We want it all! This is a space to come together, to share stories and call through the noise in the hope that better will answer.  

Added bonus, all funds raised will go to support our amazing (and new) Peterborough Poetry Slam Youth Team as they travel to the big smoke, Toronto, Ontario this July to represent Peterborough, Ontario and perform at the Voices of Today youth-run and youth-only poetry slam festival.

Also, remember how we said no rules... well we were lying. I know, I know, not cool Poetry Slam. Boooo! Nevertheless, please remember this is a space that strives to be accountable. We foster free speech, but you will be held accountable for what you say on that stage. No hate speech will be permitted. Also, we ask that open mic performers share the stage and be conscious of the space they are taking by trying not to take up more than five minutes. 

So, get writing already. What are you waiting for?
