The Louis Street lot at Charlotte and Louis streets will soon be transformed into a bustling market, as the 20th season of the Peterborough Downtown Farmers’ Market kicks-off May 3rd at 8:30 a.m.
The market—which features the very best locally grown seasonal produce, delicious prepared foods and local artisans—runs every Wednesday (8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.) between May and October, and is a hit in downtown Peterborough.
It's been another amazing season for the Downtown Farmers' Market, which ends for the year this Wednesday (October 26th).
Head on down to the Louis St. Parking lot and stock up on and enjoy all seasonal produce and all your other favourite local products. Market-goers can get recipe ideas and enjoy samples of Chili, hors d'oeuvre and other treats made with all market ingredients.
Despite soaring temperatures and extreme drought, the Farmers' Market says in a media release that their farmers’ and vendors had a great season, and that they are proud to continue bringing Downtown Peterborough the freshest seasonal and locally made produce and products available in the region.
Visit the final market of the season to enjoy a lunch with friends, thank the vendors and farmers for their hard work this season, and stock up on local groceries.
On July 1st from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Peterborough Downtown Farmers’ Market will be celebrating Canada Day with a special Strawberry Festival.
It's the beginning of summer and the height of strawberry season, and the perfect day for this festival.
There will be lots of strawberries for sale from vendors including McLeans Berry Farm, C. Bruni & Sons, Circle Organics, and Fishers Farm. The front market booth will have special Canada themed strawberry treats—and will be handing out samples to market-goers. Throughout, market vendors will be showcasing many ways to use and enjoy strawberries.
Peterborough has two Farmers' Markets that bring you locally grown, farm fresh produce, and they both open their booths outdoors in May.

Awesome idea... This Wednesday (October 2nd), four local chefs will be given identical baskets containing lots of seasonal fall produce, local meat and cheese, and other market goods. They will also be given $10 to buy a secret ingredient of their choosing from any market vendor. Starting at 10:00 a.m., Chefs will be given 1.5 hours to create a seasonal dish onsite that will be sampled and rated by a panel of guest judges. One local Chef will be crowned the 1st Annual Market Iron Chef by creating an innovative dish that showcases local products, uses everything in the basket and is of course, delicious. Chefs include Brad Watt from RARE Grill House, Martin Vanden Anker from Holiday Inn, Ursula Fugger from Elmhirst Resort and Steve Hancock from St. Veronus. Remaining portions will be given out to market-goers to sample and enjoy.
It's been another great season for Peterborough Downtown Farmers' Market, but it all comes to an end for the year on Wednesday (October 3rd).
After a successful and fruitful season, the vendors and farmers will be packing up and putting away their tents for another year.
The Night Kitchen will be on hand as the final guest Chef of the season. They will be bringing along their brand new wood fired oven and cooking up samples of their famous pizza using products donated from the market farmers.
So hit up the final market for some pizza, to celebrate the harvest, stock up on your fruits and vegetables, take in all the coffee and perogies you can, get recipe ideas, buy some beautiful fall flowers, buy those gifts and crafts you've been eyeing all season, and to say thanks to all the fabulous vendors and farmers.
