"Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes" Playing At Peterborough Library Movie Night

Tomorrow night (Thursday) is movie night at the Peterborough Public Library.

They will be showing Rise of the Planet of the Apes at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Admission is free and there is no need to RSVP.

The movie is 105 minutes long and is rated PG.

Neat Footage From Circa 1920 Depicting Lives Of British Girls At Peterborough Orphanage

This silent film, The Tide Of Immigration from Library and Archives Canada, is a compilation of various newsreels produced from 1919 to 1921 depicting the lives of immigrants in Canada. The final story in the film (starts at the 7:27 mark) is set right here in Peterborough, and introduces us to British girls living at Hazel Brae, an orphanage founded by Dr. Thomas Barnardo for homeless or destitute English children.

PtboPics: Mountain Bike Movie Premiere "Strength In Numbers" At Splice

 The Mountain Bike movie by Anthill Films, Strength In Numbers, premiered in Peterborough on Saturday night at Splice to an enthusiastic crowd.

 

Numerous models of Trek Bikes were on display from Wild Rock, and be sure to drop in there to learn more about which line suits your riding style.

Mike Watt, owner of The Plush Boutique, was on hand to show off the new line of Levi's 511 Commuter Line which are perfect for cyclists. Water resistant, 3M Reflective Tape on the interior cuffs, and pockets with features galore sure show Levi's dedication at gearing this to cyclists.

The Peterborough Drive-In Opens This Weekend!

The Mustang Drive-In (2134 Preston Rd) opens for the season this weekend. The box office opens at 8:15 and is cash-only. This weekend, The Lorax starts at 9:00 p.m., Battleship plays second at 10:30 p.m. and playing third on Sunday is American Reunion.

Outdoors author Kevin Callan (pictured above left) premiered his new movie The Happy Camper's Wilderness Quest at the Gordon Best Theatre in Peterborough last night to a sold out crowd. They were treated to a screening of the movie as well as some behind the scenes stories of the filming of the movie, and how it all came together.
