Fleming Phoenix Roundup: Oct. 24

The Fleming Phoenix saw their men’s basketball take their first home loss and big competitions for their cross-country and volleyball teams this weekend.

The men’s basketball team lost to the visiting Seneca Sting 80-61 in their second game of the season at the Wellness Centre. Standout Phoenix players were Keandre Jackson had 15 points, four steals and four rebounds; Jesean Wilson with 15 points and Paul Molay with 11 points. The Phoenix drop to 1-1 on the season following the loss.

Their next game is at home against the St. Lawrence Surge at the Wellness Centre this Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Phoenix cross country team travels to Conestoga College on Saturday for the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association provincial championship. The two-person Fleming team of Alexander Clark and Jessica Lehman will vie for a spot at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association national championship in Nova Scotia next month.

Both the men’s and women’s Phoenix volleyball teams are on the road this weekend. On Friday, the men’s and women’s teams will travel north to face the Canadore Panthers. The teams will then face the Georgian Grizzlies on Saturday.
