Peterborough Lakers Fall in Game Two of MSL Final to Six Nations Chiefs in Overtime, 13-12

The Peterborough Century 21 Lakers failed to hold a lead and fell to the Six Nations Chiefs in overtime 13-12 at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on Thursday night.

With that loss, the Lakers and Chiefs are tied 1-1 in the series of the Major Series Lacrosse final.

The game was tied 5-5 after the first period. The Lakers rung off four straight goals in the second and carried a three-goal lead into the third, 10-7.

The Chiefs stuck with Lakers, scoring five goals to Peterborough’s two to send the game into overtime.

Six Nations’ Randy Staats scored both the tying goal, with 36 seconds left and the game-winning goal in overtime. 

The Chiefs’ Cody Jamieson led all scorers with six goals and five assists. Warren Hill made 22 saves for Six Nations before giving Doug Jamieson the reigns, making 33 saves. 

Thomas Hoggarth led the Lakers with a five-goal performance. 

Game three is Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Ohsweken.
