Environment Day

The City of Peterborough’s annual Environment Day is on Saturday, May 9, 2015. The event takes place at the Evinrude Centre, 911 Monaghan Road from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., rain or shine.

City residents can take advantage of free disposal of all oversized plastic items, such as patio furniture, laundry baskets and water cooler jugs, video and audio tapes, DVD’s and CD’s, carpet, any appliance with a cord, and hard covered books.

Used electronics and scrap metal items will also be accepted. Bring along any single- use batteries you have collected from your home as well. No commercial loads will be accepted, event open to City of Peterborough households only.

Automobile batteries and items that contain Freon, such as refrigerators, air conditioners or water coolers will not be accepted.

Crime Stoppers will also be on-site offering a confidential paper shredding service with cash donations gratefully accepted.

Blue boxes and composters will be available for cash purchase. City residents can bring their broken blue boxes for free replacements. GreenUP will have rain barrels available to purchase.
