Peterborough Theatre Guild Presents: Girl in the Goldfish Bowl (May 3)

Set in the ocean-side, fishery town of 1960’s Steveston, British Columbia, Iris takes us back to her 12-year-old self, and what she describes as “the last few days of her childhood.” Preoccupied with the impending Cuban Missile crisis, and the obvious strain in her parents’ marriage, Iris is convinced that the death of her goldfish, Amahl, must have brought on these troubles.

After finding a mysterious man washed up on the beach and bringing the elusive stranger home, Iris becomes more and more convinced that she knows who he really is…and that he can restore what has been broken with the magic of his presence. Peering into this family “goldfish bowl” will find you incredulous, laughing, possessed of a deep sense of recognition, and aware of the great healing power of the imagination.
