Peterborough Police Seeking Two Suspects Involved In a Saturday Morning Assault

The Peterborough Police Service is looking for two suspects involved in an assault early Saturday morning.

At roughly, 2 a.m., officers went to the George Street and King Street area regarding a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers found a male with stab wounds and was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was approached by a woman asking for help/ There was an altercation when he attempted to help and he was struck. 

The suspects are described to police as:

Suspect #1:

  • Shorter male, wearing a Raptors jersey and a black hat

Suspect #2:

  • Taller male, wearing a black hoodie

The suspects were last seen heading along King Street toward Millennium Park. Officers and K9 unit searched the area but could not locate the suspects.

Peterborough Man Charged After Allegedly Waving a Firearm

A 25-year-old Peterborough man is facing a possession of weapon charge after an incident early Friday morning.

At roughly 1:24 a.m., police received a call about a man waving an alleged gun in Clonsilla Avenue and The Parkway area. When police arrived, the man was staggered and refused to comply with the police. The officer took the man into custody and found a black BB Glock-style handgun during a search.

The 25-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 24.

40-Year-Old Havelock Man Facing Several Charges Including Possession of Stolen Property

A 40-year-old Havelock man is facing a possession of stolen property charge after rummaging through vehicles in a park.

A roughly 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, officers were called to the area of Armour Road and Parkhill Road East about a suspicious person in the park and rummaging through vehicles in the area. When officers arrived, they spotted a man matching the description looking through a storage bin with a flashlight. The man was taken into custody without incident and officers recovered several items reported missing by residents in the area.

As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old Havelock man was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order x2

The accused is currently bound by two probation orders with the following conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Wednesday.

38-Year-Old Man Facing An Assault Charge After Allegedly Striking a Man's Face With a Knife

A 38-year-old Peterborough man is facing an assault charge with a weapon from an incident on Saturday evening.

At roughly 9 p.m., officers were called to the Charlotte Street and George Street area. A verbal argument between a couple on the street broke out then an unknown man intervened, brandished a knife and struck the other man in the face. The victim was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment.

The suspect immediately fled the area. With the help of the CCTV camera system, police got a description of the suspect according to their report.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, an officer on general patrol in the Aylmer Street and Brock Street area spotted a man matching the suspect's description and took him into custody.

The 38-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault with A Weapon

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

Two Scam Incidents Totalling $13,000 In Losses Hits Peterborough, Police Reminds Community To Be Cautious

The Peterborough Police Service has received reports of two scams totalling $13,000 that have surfaced in the community as stated on Wednesday.

Officers are investigating after a business owner reported suspicious credit card purchases for about $4,000 worth of products being made.

In another case, a resident was scammed out of over $9,000 when they were informed their computer had been compromised.  The resident was asked to send money in Bitcoin to fix the problem. 

Frauds can be reported to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. Anyone victimized by a scam can call 705-876-1122 or complete a report online.

44-Year-Old Peterborough Man Facing Multiple Assault Charges After Allegedly Striking a Woman

A 44-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges in connection with several domestic incidents.

On Monday, officers were made aware of several incidents between 2021 and 2023 where a woman was allegedly shoved, struck in the head and verbally threatened according to the police report.

As a result of the investigation, the man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault x2

  • Assault with a weapon

  • Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm-Spousal

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court on Tuesday.

Grey Vehicle Flees From Routine Traffic Stop; Peterborough Police Seeking Information

The Peterborough Police Service is asking for the public’s help in identifying a vehicle that fled from a traffic stop early Saturday morning.

At roughly 1:50 a.m., a general patrol officer conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of George Street and Lansdowne Street for a vehicle with no license plate. The vehicle stopped for the officer initially but when the officer approached the car, it sped off.  A short pursuit was called off according to the Peterborough Police Service. The vehicle was last seen heading westbound at Lansdowne Street and Monaghan Road.  

Vehicle described as:

  • Grey Hyundai Genesis

  • No license plate

33-Year-Old Man Facing Break-and-Enter Charge and Allegedly Sold Stolen Items

A 33-year-old Peterborough man is facing a break-and-enter charge after an incident on Thursday.

At roughly 6:20 p.m., officers learned of a break-and-enter at an apartment. They learned the suspect had been staying with the victim when the latter returned home and found items missing. It was learned that some of the stolen items had been sold and that the suspect was also wanted on warrants. 

The Peterborough man was arrested on the strength of the warrants and further charged with:

  • Break, Enter dwelling house - commit indictable offence

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 10.

34-Year-Old Woman Facing Impaired Charges On Wednesdays Afternoon

A 34-year-old Peterborough woman is facing impaired charges after an incident on Wednesday afternoon.

At roughly 4:50 p.m., officers were called to a parking lot in the Chemong Road and Towerhill Road area by an off-duty OPP officer about a possible impaired driver.  Officers had concerns about the driver’s ability to drive safely and prevented her from leaving the area. They also noticed signs of impairment with the driver.

The woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impound.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 10.

Cavan-Monaghan Man Facing Assault Charges After Allegedly Striking His Spouse In the Face

A 48-year-old Cavan-Monaghan man is facing assault charges after allegedly striking his spouse’s face during an incident on Wednesday afternoon.

At roughly 1 p.m., officers arrived at a residence where an incident between a man and women were taking place. Upon arrival, both parties claimed nothing that had happened. The officers were called back shortly after by the woman who claimed that she had been struck in the face by the man. Officers learned of a previous incident between the two last week. 

The 48-year-old Cavan-Monaghan man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault – Spousal X2

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 3.
