Two Peterborough People Arrested on Drug Trafficking Charges; Man Charged With Impaired Driving

Two Peterborough people are facing several charges including drug trafficking and impaired driving from an early Thursday incident.

At roughly 3:45 a.m., officers were called to a parking lot on Water Street and Parkhill Road West about a suspicious vehicle. 

Officers saw a vehicle running and a man asleep in the driver’s seat. Once he woke, the male attempted to drive away but was stopped by the officers after noticing signs of impairment.  A female passenger in the vehicle was also taken into custody. 

During a search of the vehicle after arrest, officers seized:

  • Cocaine - 48.9 grams

  • Crystal Methamphetamine – 20.7 grams

  • Fentanyl – 56.6 grams

  • Marijuana – 3.7 grams

  • Percocet - 155 pills

  • Oxycodone - 21 tablets

  • Xanax – 1 tablet or bar

  • Pre-Gabalin - 13 capsules

  • Packaging materials (sandwich bags / tin foil)

  • 10 Cellphones

  • Large quantities of currency from multiple countries

As a result of the investigation:

A 35-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – drugs

  • Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court x2

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin) x2

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs x2

  • Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of Trafficking

The accused is currently bound by a recognizance order with the following conditions not to have, consume or possess any drugs that are not prescribed and to not be inside a motor vehicle without the registered owner.

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court Thursday.

A 36-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin) x2

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs x2

  • Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of Trafficking

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court Thursday.

Two People Arrested on Alleged Theft and Mischief Early Tuesday Morning

Two Peterborough people are facing theft and mischief charges after going through vehicles early Tuesday morning.

At roughly 2:30 a.m., officers were called to the Robinson Street and Rogers Street area about two people going through vehicles. Officers located two people who matched the description given to the police.

They were taken into custody without incident. Officers further searched the area and located several damaged vehicles and items believed to have been used to attempt to enter them.  

As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft Under $5000

  • Mischief Under $ 5,000

  • Trespassing at Night

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court June 18.

A 31-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft Under $5000

  • Mischief Under $ 5,000

  • Trespassing at Night

Peterborough Police Service Issue 27 Traffic Tickets During Victoria Day Weekend

Peterborough Police Service Traffic Unit officers completed a traffic enforcement initiative during Canada Road Safety week issuing 27 throughout the City of Peterborough and Lakefield on Friday during the Victoria Day weekend.

There were five warnings and three vehicles were taken off the road in addition to the 27 tickets issued:

  • Child Seats x2

  • Unplated Vehicle x1

  • Cell Phones x2

  • Unnecessary Noise x2

  • Suspended Driver x1 

  • G1 Driver violation x1

  • Red Lights Visible at Front x1

  • Emissions Violations x2

  • Speeding x5

  • Drivers Licence Offences x4

  • Insurance Violations x3

  • Permit Violations x3

Peterborough Man Facing Multiple Charges After Allegedly Luring Minors

A 32-year-old Peterborough man is facing six charges after an investigation including luring a minor and prohibition regarding children.

Officers from the Peterborough Police Services Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit executed a search warrant at a Peterborough residence on Thursday

As a result of the two-month investigation, the man was arrested and charged with:

  • Luring a Person Under 16 Years of Age by Means of Telecommunication x4

  • Fail to Comply with Prohibition Regarding Children x2

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Friday.

Man Who Fled Collision Turns Himself In and Faces Multiple Traffic Charges

A 37-year-old Peterborough man faces Highway Traffic Act charges after an allegedly fail-to-remain collision in Peterborough Wednesday afternoon.

The driver of the Jeep turned themselves into police on Thursday afternoon.

He was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Driving while suspended

  • Fail to Remain

  • Careless Driving

The driver was given a court date of July 18.

Two Break-And-Enter Incidents See Two Doors Smashed With One Business Having Several Thousand Dollars of Tools Taken

The Peterborough Police Service is investigating two break-and-enter incidents early Monday morning.

At roughly 5:05 a.m., officers were called to a business on The Kingsway after an alarm. Officers noticed the front door had been smashed. It was further learned that several thousand dollars worth of tools had been taken.

The second incident occurred at 5:23 a.m. at a Neal Drive business. Officers discovered that the front glass door had been smashed.

Two Teenagers Arrested For Allegedly Uttering Threats Through Snapchat

A 16-year-old Peterborough male wanted on a warrant is facing several uttering threat charges after an incident Friday afternoon.

He was wanted for the following from May 7:

  • Mischief under $5,000

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

  • Robbery with a weapon and utter threats -cause death or bodily harm X2

The suspect was further charged in connection with a series of threatening messages to another group of teens through Snapchat on Friday.

The teen turned himself into police on Saturday.

He was arrested on strength of the warrant and further charged with:

  • Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm

  • Uttering Threats - Damage Property

  • Criminal Harassment - repeatedly communicate

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday Court on Saturday.

A second Peterborough teen also wanted in the May 7 incident for the following:

  • Mischief under $5,000

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

  • Robbery with a Weapon

  • Uttering Threats - Cause Death or bodily harm x2

He turned himself into police on Saturday. It was further determined the male was connected to the incident on Friday in which a threatening message was sent through text.

The second teen arrested on the strength of the warrant and further charged with:

  • Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm  

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court May 27.

Belleville Woman Wanted On Warrants Arrested With Multiple Drug Charges

A 28-year-old Belleville woman wanted on warrants is facing multiple drug charges after an investigation from the Peterborough Police Service Drug Unit after recent violent incidents in Peterborough.

As a result of the investigation, officers seized:

  • 22.4 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine

  • 29.2 grams of Cocaine

  • 4.2 grams of Fentanyl

  • Canadian Currency

  • Black bear mace

The woman was wanted on warrants, was arrested and further charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 - in Canada

  • Failure to comply with Prohibition Order

  • Possession of imitation weapon for Dangerous Purpose

  • Failure to comply with Undertaking

  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused is currently bound by a prohibition order with the following condition not to possess any restricted weapon or explosive substance.

She is currently bound by probation with the following conditions: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The Belleville woman is currently bound by an undertaking not to possess any restricted weapon or explosive substance.

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court on Thursday.

Peterborough Man Arrested and Hit With Multiple Child Pornography Charges

A 45-year-old Peterborough man is facing several child pornography charges after a six-month investigation.

On Wednesday, Peterborough Police Service ICE Unit officers executed a search warrant at a local residence. 

As a result of a cooperative investigation effort between the United States Department of Homeland Security and Peterborough Police Service, the man was arrested and charged with:

  • Imports, Distributes, Sells or Possession for the Purpose of Distribution or Sale of any Child Pornography

  • Possession of Child Pornography

  • Agreement to Commit a Sexual Offence against a Person under 16 years of age

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court on Wednesday.

Peterborough Police Seeking a Motorcyclist Who Fled After Attempted Traffic Stop For Speeding

The Peterborough Police Service is looking for a motorcycle driver who fled from an attempted traffic stop after speeding on Tuesday evening.

At roughly 7:15 p.m., a black motorcycle travelling at a high rate of speed passed several vehicles including a marked police cruiser on County Road 10 heading into Millbrook. 

Police estimate the motorcycle was going between 120-130 km/h at the time. 

The driver is described as:

  • Male

  • Wearing dark pants and a black t-shirt with white lettering on the back

  • A dark-coloured helmet

Police believe the motorcycle is black. The officer activated their emergency lights but the bike did not stop.
