Active Together, a project of the Council for Persons with Disabilities (CPD), aims to increase sport & recreation opportunities and participation rates for individuals with disabilities. Active Together is excited to offically announce their Adaptive Sports Expo supported by many local, provincial and national sporting organizations including: Canadian Paralympic Committee, Special Olympics, Parasport Ontario, Ontario Blind Sports Association, Ontario Wheelchair Sports Association, Peterborough Petes, TandemEyes, Saugeen Shafts.
Active Together’s Adaptive Sports Expo will be held at Kenner Collegiate on Saturday May 30th from 9:00am to 4:00pm. There will be many different adpative sporting opportunities showcased throughout the day including: Basketball, Wheelchair Basketball, Soccer, Boccia, Goal Ball, Yoga, Archery, Hockey, Wheelchair Tennis, Para cycling. This is a FREE drop in event where there will be an opportunity to try all of the sports being showcased. A schedule will be released closer to the day of the event.
During the event Active Together will also be hosting a free NCCP Coaching Training through Special Olympics for Coaching Young Athletes and FUNdamentals, you must pre-register for this opportunity by visiting go.specialolympicsontario.ca/nccpcya
This is an inclusive, family friendly sporting opportunity for anyone and everyone to come out and get active whether you have tried these sports before or not. Do you have to have a disability to participate? No, this opportunity is for people of all abilities to get out and try. All equipment will be provided as well as snacks and refreshements.
