6th Annual Red Pashmina Walk

The 6th annual Red Pashmina Walk takes place Sunday, April 17 beginning at George Street United Church, hosted by the Peterborough chapter of Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan, in support of the education of women and their families in Afghanistan.

Funds raised at this relaxing family-friendly Spring walk around East City will go towards donor funded projects which are implemented and managed in partnership with Afghan non-profit organizations.

These projects include a number of community schools, village libraries, an orphanage, as well as teacher training, literacy, English and computer classes and an open on-line library in three languages to assist teachers.

Registration is from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. and the walk starts at 3 p.m. For pledge sheets and further information, email peterborough@CW4WAfghan.ca or call Daphne at 705-656-3820, or visit CW$WAfghan - Peterborough on Facebook.

Hand-made crafts, created by women in Afghanistan, will be sold at the Walk. Red Pashminas will also be available for $20. The walk will be followed by refreshments and a presentation highlighting the current projects supported by CW4WAfghan.
