Every now and then, the opportunity to make a real difference while sending an important message to the community at large, presents itself.
On Saturday, May 7, 2016, 10 a.m. to noon, the Rotary Community Super Spring Clean-Up will again provide that opportunity, rain or shine.
Organized and presented for a ninth year by the Rotary clubs of Peterborough, Kawartha and Bridgenorth-Ennsimore-Lakefield (BEL), the Community Super Spring Clean-Up is an initiative which sees the community invited to collect garbage and recyclables at any one of seven designated locations - Confederation Square in downtown Peterborough, Beavermead Park, Morrow Park, Kinsmen Park, Riverview Park and Zoo, Bowers Park and Rotary Park in Ennismore.
Families, community groups, work colleagues, students and individuals can register for a location and find more information, including helpful clean-up tips, at www.superspringcleanup.ca and/or search Spring Clean Up Peterborough on Facebook.
Once on site, participants will enjoy treats and beverages provided by sponsor Tim Hortons before receiving gloves, garbage bags and instructions.
Participants are invited to help for the entire two hours or part of that time - whatever works best for them.
Over the past eight years, the Community Super Spring Clean-Up has seen more than 3,000 bags of garbage and recyclables collected from parks, trails, river banks, rail corridors and road sides.
