On Wednesday, June 1, the Women’s Business Network of Peterborough (WBN) will co-host the 14th Annual Women in Business Awards at The Venue where the recipients for 2016 Peterborough Examiner Women in Business Award and the Judy Heffernan Award will be announced.
Co-sponsored by the WBN and the Peterborough Examiner, the event will recognize the hard work of Peterborough’s businesswomen and their contributions to the economy and the community, as well as their inspirational leadership and role for women in business. The evenings emcee will be Amy Simpson, owner of MicroAge Peterborough and last year’s winner of the Women in Business Award.
“It’s with great honour and pride that the WBN joins the Peterborough Examiner in hosting the prestigious Women in Business Awards this year,” says Theresa Foley, WBN President. “This is such a natural union since the WBN is an all-women, all-business member organization. We celebrate success, mentor each other, and bring in experts in various aspects of business every month so that we can continue to grow and improve our chances of success.”
The awards celebrate, reward and acknowledge the hard work and achievements of some of the most successful, entrepreneurial and inspiring businesswomen throughout Peterborough — but they also play a critical role in raising the profile of women in business.
“The Women in Business Awards give us the opportunity to applaud the amazing business talent that we have here in our region. We celebrate the efforts of women to become equals in the business world. We can be a CEO, a president of a corporation, or the owner or operator of a home-based business, and each and every one of us is equally respected for our drive, our stamina and our abilities,” says Ms. Foley.
The evening will also include keynote speaker, Betty-Ann Heggie, a thought leader in gender physics and mentorship. Her topic Play All the Cards in your Hand: It’s the Gender Physics Leadership Advantage will highlight a new kind of “science” called Gender Physics, which seeks to enable women to move smoothly back and forth between their natural compassionate feminine energy, which readily builds relationships and the courageous masculine energy which is not afraid to take a risk. In our hand, each and every one of us holds the Feminine Energy’s Queen of Hearts and the Masculine Energy’s King of Spades. She will offer insights on how women can learn to play these trump cards and be a winner in life.
Tickets are available online and are expected to sell out in advance. Guest tickets cost $40 and can be purchased at womensbusinessnetwork.net. Tickets will not be available at the door.
