‘The Tragically Hip: A National Celebration’ Live at The Venue

The Venue is hosting a screening of the CBC and The Tragically Hip Presents ‘The Tragically Hip: A National Celebration’ live from Kingston on Saturday, August 20th.

Peterborough area fans of The Tragically Hip are invited to watch the commercial-free concert live on The Venue’s large screen with concert quality audio. Admittance is free for this licensed / all ages event, and voluntary donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in support of Brain Cancer research will be happily accepted.

“We are pleased to be able to offer Peterborough fans a chance to view and be part of this significant celebration with their families and the community,” says Catia Skinner, CEO of the Kawartha Entertainment Group Inc., including The Venue and Dolcé Vita. “Those who are not able to attend the main concert can still experience the event with our big screen and high quality sound, while also supporting Brain Cancer research.”

Lorrie McMullen, Director of Operations at The Venue worked with CBC to organize the screening of the concert at The Venue. When CBC announced they were live streaming the Tragically Hip’s celebration concert from Kingston, Lorrie’s granddaughter Kara Ainsworth approached her to ask if The Venue could air the broadcast. “She thought fans would enjoy the concert more by watching it together as a community rather than individually in their own homes. I thought it was a fabulous idea, and contacted CBC to organize the event.”

The Venue’s live concert screening will take place on Saturday, August 20, 2016. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m, and the show will begin at 8:30 p.m. This is a licensed / all ages event and admission is free to the public.
