The Canada’s 150th Anniversary Celebrations Committee and New Canadians Centre invite you to join us at the annual Multicultural Canada Day Festival. This family-friendly event will #bringpeopletogether to celebrate community, diversity and inclusion run from 10:00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. at Del Crary Park on Saturday July 1.
Each year the New Canadians Centre brings together a fantastic group of international food and craft vendors and stage performers from around the world. There will be the opportunity to try foods from around the world: Thailand, Russia, Bangladesh, the Caribbean, Greece and many more.
We encourage everyone to brng their own dishes and cutlery so that we can continue our efforts to Green the event.
Join us for interactive sports demonstrations from 10:00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m.: Cricket, Tai Chi, Para-Sports, Jiu Jitsu and Zumba.
Our multicultural stage show will run from 12:00 p.m. to 2.30 p.m. and include performances by the Wshkiigomang Woman’s Native Hand Drum Singers and Curve Lake drum group IR-35, and a martial arts demonstration by Shifu Rupert Harvey. Join in a square dance with our friends the D’oh See Doughboyz, who will be leading the effort to put together Peterborough’s largest square dance as part of the stage show. Singer Serafin Lariviere will be sharing music from his Franglaise bilingual music project. There will also be cultural performances from Syria, India, Sri Lanka, Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa.
Our popular mock Citizenship test will be on hand for everyone to try out, and new activities have been set up to test your knowledge of Canada. Children can enjoy the face-painting, henna tattoos and activities at the Kids Zone through our collaboration with the Art Gallery of Peterborough.
