On Thursday, March 8, 2018, Thirteen Moons Wellness will host the second annual International Women’s Day Conference at Ashburnham Reception Centre to celebrate the achievements of women, to inspire, and to unite friends, colleagues and communities to think, act and be gender inclusive.
The 2018 International Women’s Day global theme is “Press for Progress." With the World Economic Forum's 2017 Global Gender Gap Report findings telling us that gender parity is over 200 years away, there has never been a more important time to stay motivated, be engaged, and press forward for progress and gender parity.
This year’s conference theme will be "Engage. Share. Empower." The focus is to provide an opportunity for women to engage in learning, share triumphs and struggles, and ultimately, empower each other so we can continue to thrive as we play important roles in our families, workplaces, and communities.
“This conference will bring women together for an entire day to feel inspired and empowered to take action to reach their personal and professional goals. The speaker topics and interactive workshops have been selected to address a wide range of women’s issues including financial independence, self-care strategies for mental health, building resilience, and creating meaningful community connections,” says Louise Racine, owner of Thirteen Moons Wellness and International Women’s Day conference committee chair.
Speaker lineup features: Samra Zafar, human rights activist, scholar, author and social entrepreneur, speaking on authentic leadership; Linda Silver Dranoff, lawyer, author and activist, speaking on advocating for women’s equality; and Judy Croon, comedian, motivational speaker, radio host, Second City standup coach and author, speaking on how to relieve work-related stress with humour.
Attendees will also get to participate in two 75-minute workshops from six available sessions on important topics such as Taming the Busy Mind, Building Resilience, Financial Planning for the Independent Woman, Courageous Conversations, Creating Your Community, and Reclaiming Our Bodies.
The first International Women’s Day was observed on March 19, 1911, and has grown to become a global day of recognition and celebration.
