Join Jane’s Walk Peterborough on Sunday, May 6 at 2pm to explore how one Peterborough neighbourhood is working together to re-imagine public space in their community. Meet us at the corner of Chesterfield Ave. and Downie St.
Parking is available on the street and at the Brookdale Plaza.
Over the fall and winter, residents have been engaging in various participatory planning activities through the GreenUP NeighbrourPLAN program. Through these activities a number of sites have been highlighted as priority areas for improvement and work has begun to encourage residents to reimagine what these spaces could look like.
On this walk, we’ll meander through the lovely tree lined residential streets of the Brookdale neighbourhood, stopping at a number of the resident identified sites. On route we’ll highlight gaps in infrastructure, local history, and some natural heritage features and ask the questions:
How can neighbourhoods work as a community to achieve the change they want to see?
What actions can they organize?
What organizations can they connect with?
How can neighbourhoods be better engaged in City planning processes?
What ideas do you have?
We imagine this walk to take about 1.5 hrs.
Walk is free, no ticket is required but RSVP-ing will help give walk leaders get a sense of the numbers to expect.
Remember to log your trip with Shifting Gears if you take transit, bike, carpool, or walk to the meeting point.
