Show And Sale Of Goyette Paintings At Showplace

Artist David Goyette's "2020 Collection" of paintings will be presented in a one-day show and sale at Peterborough's Showplace Performance Centre.

The event takes place in the Sunshine Sean Eyre Lobby on Saturday December 12, 2020 from noon to 5 PM.

Goyette has a had a variety of local showings, including the Cavan Art Gallery, the Monocle Centre for the Arts, the Fairhaven Link Gallery, the Peterborough Golf and Country Club and and the Lockside Trading Company. In recent weeks, Goyette has had showings at Lakefield's Isabel Morris Park, Peterborough Square and the Keene Centre for the Arts.

Goyette is an abstract expressionist whose work features large-scale acrylic paintings that celebrate the drama of colour. His work is influenced primarily by the New York school of abstract expressionism of the 1950's and 1960's, and the later practitioners of lyrical abstraction. He is an admirer of colour field abstraction and cites his influences as Robert Motherwell, Helen Frankenthaler, Jackson Pollock, James Brooks, Jean-Paul Riopelle, Hans Hofmann, Theodoros Stamos and Gerhard Richter.
