The Future Ready: Business Summit 2020 is brought to #PTBO by collaboration with the Peterborough Chamber of Commerce, Peterborough & the Kawarthas Economic Development and Regional Tourism Organization 8.

Tickets for this half day conference focused on business are $50 includes breakfast, lunch and a professional head-shot by MossWorks Photography.

7:00 am - Doors open + breakfast

8:00 am - Opening Remarks with President and CEO of Peterborough Chamber of Commerce Stuart Harrison + President and CEO Peterborough & the Kawarthas Economic Development Rhonda Keenan.

8:15 am - Keynote speaker: Daniel Lewis is an author, entrepreneur and motivational speaker. Daniel is the proud founder of the award winning tea company T by Daniel. His people-focused outlook on entrepreneurship and his experiential business tactics have garnered him and his company nationwide recognition and many awards and honours such as a 2016 Brampton Business Excellence Award and 2017 Top 40 Under 40 Entrepreneurs and many more. Daniel grew his company T By Daniel, from a grassroots startup, to an established local tea brand who served the Royal Family. The journey has been both challenging and worthwhile and Daniel aims to present aspiring entrepreneurs and startups with the grit and tenacity it takes to start a business and the hope and inspiration needed to sustain it. Using real-life examples and experiences Daniel will leave you ready to tackle your business in a creative, realistic and impactful way

12:00pm - Lunch & Panel Discussion: Mediums and Messages. Join in on a discussion about Marketing mediums and messaging with expert panelists from Radio, TV, Print and Social Media.

Business Summit Workshops:
9:00am Workshop 1A What Happens If: A discussion around succession planning, how to approach a partnership derailment, dealing with stress and mental health etc. The goal is to offer participants take away strategies and techniques to help them prepare for situations that can be detrimental to not only the financial health of a business, but also the health and finances of the business owners involved. Some examples of what you will learn is the importance of planning for the future of your business, questions to ask before setting up your business and should you review any partnership agreements and how to deal with stress through exercise and mindfulness.

9:00am Workshop 1B The Psychology of the Sale: A discussion on how to close the sale and understanding consumer behaviour. Participants of this session will hear from an Associate Professor from the Trent School of Business to offer insight into the mind of the consumer. Is there a better way to merchandise in-store and online to achieve maximum results? Is there value in the story behind the business?

10:30am Workshop 2A Circle of Sustainability: A discussion of the circular economy and how local businesses can use each other’s by products and tips to be greener. Purchasing local, using local suppliers and supplies is the way of the future. Many businesses in the Peterborough region are already and have been looking through this lens. Participants of this session will hear from three local businesses or organizations that apply this principal in a variety of ways and why they have chosen this route for their business model.

10:30am Workshop 2B Digitization: A look at the impact of digitization in agriculture, bricks and mortar businesses, and cyber security. The session is an opportunity to learn about the techniques used in agriculture right here in the County of Peterborough, understand the steps to digitization for small and medium enterprises, as well as understanding how to protect your digital footprint and collected information.
