37th Annual Under the Lock Fishing Derby

The water is stocked and the countdown is on for one of the region’s favourite spring traditions. After a record of 2380 anglers registered last year, OFAH Membership is bringing back the 37th Annual Under the Lock Fishing Derby with over 3,000 trout released and more than $35,000 in prizes up for grabs.

The derby kicks off Saturday, April 25 at 9:00 a.m. –4:00 p.m. with the Youth Derby, followed by the all-ages event starting Sunday, April 26 at 9:00 a.m. and running through Sunday, May 3.

This year features five Grand Prizes, including the fan-favourite Walter, valued at $1,000, and, new this year, a guided fishing trip for three in Algonquin Park with Opeongo Lake and Beyond Guide Service.

Youth registration is $15 for the first child and $10 for each additional child registered at the same time. Registration includes instant prizes during the Youth Derby and entry into the All Ages Derby.

Thanks to strong support from local businesses, anglers can look forward to prizes ranging from fishing gear and camping equipment to bikes and cash.

Last year, 57 organizations and 40 volunteers came together to make this event happen!

With thousands of fish in the water and plenty of chances to win, organizers are inviting the community to come out, cast a line, and be part of another great year.
