The May 24th concert, “Step into the Light” marks the finale of the 2024-2025 season.
Pieces by composers Arvo Pärt, Kelly-Marie Murphy and Gustav Mahler will be presented. Harpist Valérie Milot and cellist Stéphane Tétreault will partner up to perform Canadian composer Kelly-Marie Murphy’s Double Concerto for harp and cello.
Soprano Christina Raphaëlle Haldane will join the orchestra to showcase Mahler’s Fourth Symphony. This symphony is described as one of Mahler’s most accessible and lyrical works, often described as his most "classical" symphony in structure and mood—especially when compared to the larger, more tumultuous works that precede and follow it.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Arrive 45 minutes early and you will be treated to the “Meet the Maestro” informative and entertaining pre-concert talk that will give you a preview of the music you will hear. The concert takes place at Emmanuel United Church.
