Trent Valley Archives Presents Painter's Portraits

Trent Valley Archives will host the premiere of the short documentary film, “Painter’s Portraits” by noted local filmmaker Nick Van der Graaf on March 28.

The inspiration for this movie came from Nick’s observation of the many captivating portraits of local people which hang on the walls at the Archives. The portraits are the work of one artist Gilbert Painter, who was noted in his youth as an artistic prodigy but who became an engineer and, after WWII, worked at GE in Peterborough. On retirement, Painter concentrated on developing his artistic skills, painting hundreds of people across our region.

The film will be shown at Bagnani Hall, Traill College, London St., at 2 pm. This will be followed by a discussion with the filmmaker on the filmmaking process and others who contributed to the film.

Cost of this event is $10 and tickets can be purchased in advance on Eventbrite at: https://www.eventbrite.ca/.../painters-portraits-film... or at the door.
