A Group Of High School Students Were Bear Sprayed Last Night In Peterborough

From a Peterborough police release today...

On Sunday (Dec. 9), 2012 at approximately 1:20 a.m. a group of seven high school students, all 16 years old, were walking in the area of Armour Road when they were approached by an unknown man who asked them if they wanted to fight and said he had bear spray. As the group began to walk away to avoid the man, the suspect discharged the bear spray more than once in their direction. The spray made contact with some of the students’ faces. The group of students were able to get away and contact one of their parents who took them to the hospital for observation and where they were treated for irritation to their eyes and skin. There were no serious injuries. Police were contacted and provided a description of suspect. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6’, skinny build, approximately 16 to 20 years of age, dark medium length hair, wearing a flat beak hat and possibly a striped T-Shirt. There was also another man and two women, all 16 to 20 years of age, that were with the main suspect at the time of the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service at 705-876-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
