PTBOCanada Featured Post: Century 21 United Realty's Adrian Johnson Has A Passion For Real Estate

For Adrian Johnson, what started out as a summer job quickly transformed into a full-time job before his very eyes. After graduating high-school at Adam Scott and taking courses at Fleming College, he still wasn’t in the career path he thought he would ultimately be in.

Working as a landscaper and then as a foreman for two local companies, he was given the opportunity to work on all kinds of projects from small patios to million-dollar landscaping projects. Although he was thankful for the opportunity and position he was in, after five years on the job his heart was set on something else and he knew it was time for a change.

An entrepreneur at heart, Adrian loved the concept of sales and was considering all his options. His aspirations for a future career were to stay in Peterborough and at the same time be able to build his own brand in a sustainable situation.

A close friend who he had previously worked with was quite successful in real estate working under Carl Oake at Century 21 United Realty in Peterborough, and let him know a little bit about his experience in the industry. The thought of real estate had always piqued Adrian’s interest and after a few conversations letting him know the ins and outs of the business and the company, he was almost sold.

Once given the opportunity to meet with owners and managers, it didn’t take long for him to want to make a career change. After attending OREA Real Estate College to obtain his real estate license, he was ready to get to work.

For Adrian, who is currently the No. 1 top producing agent at Century 21 United Realty and has been for the past few years, things are kept simple as he continues to establish his brand inside the company. The person you meet at a showing or open house is the exact same person you’ll see out in the community, whether it's fishing, volunteering at a local youth group, or even throwing axes at the Peterborough Axe Club (which he owns with 4 other partners).

Adrian doesn’t allow his laid-back approach to work to take away from the professionalism he knows is necessary to be successful for his clients. The hard work, long hours, listening to his client’s needs, staying persistent and knowing his community inside and out helps him to execute in a way he’s truly proud of. The desire to be a leader and provider are what truly motivates him.

Adrian now works alongside Vanessa Oake-Hogan, who has recently transitioned into the leadership role at Century 21 United Realty. While carrying on the name her father helped establish in the community, she is putting her own touch on things which he appreciates moving forward. First and foremost she is a great person, genuinely caring about her agents. She’s quick to listen and help, which makes life a lot easier for all those around her.

Vanessa's management style allows Adrian to concentrate on his own work, all the while knowing she’s continuing to run a thriving local business—acting as a leader in our local real estate market.

Recently, Adrian was afforded the opportunity to be part of the marketing committee behind the #loveyourlocalREALTOR campaign because both he and Vanessa feel strongly about the importance of using local realtors in our own community.
