PTBOCanada Featured Post: Habitat For Humanity Peterborough Opens New ReStore In North End

With the recent news that Peterborough is the fastest growing city in Canada, community organizations all around us are ramping up to be better prepared for the influx of new people.

This includes Habitat for Humanity Peterborough & Kawartha Region, who after having established itself in Peterborough in 2002, has just opened its third ReStore location in our region—this one at 300 Milroy Dr in the North End (the others are on Braidwood Ave in the South End of Peterborough, and on Angeline Street North in Lindsay). The new store opens up more shopping opportunity for customers and more room for donated products.

They’ve been hard at work getting their new ReStore open in the North End of Peterborough and are set to celebrate their largest new location on May 15th at 10 a.m. with a special Grand Opening celebration.

There will be special giveaways, a kids’ area, BBQ, DIY demonstrations, and more. Visitors will find a great new look and amazing deals of up to 50% off on all the ReStore treasures you’ve come to love, along with some unexpected surprises.

With over 14,000 square feet of shopping space, the spacious store offers a wide variety of home décor, furniture, appliances, renovation materials, flooring, lighting, cabinetry, bath fixtures and much more. Customers will find substantial savings in-store and are encouraged to visit frequently as donations are received daily and the floor is continuously restocked.

It’s likely that you’ve heard of Habitat for Humanity, having established itself internationally in 1976 but the ReStore might be new to you. ReStores play a vital role in supporting Habitat’s mission to help local families build strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable homeownership.

Donations are collected from the community from a variety of sources, and all proceeds from sales are invested into Habitat Peterborough & Kawartha Region so that Habitat can continue to build decent, affordable homes for local families.

By shopping at the ReStore, you’re making an environmentally conscious choice, too. All three ReStores operate a scrap metal recycling program and keep great furniture out of landfills by offering it a new lease on life.

With three ReStores now available in our community, the selection of items is immense. You literally never know what you might find, making each shopping experience different.

Whether you’re a do-it-yourselfer, homeowner, contractor, environmentalist, or treasure hunter, the Habitat ReStore should be your first stop when shopping for your next home improvement, renovation or DIY project. Not only are you bound to find incredible stuff for pennies on the dollar, but every purchase creates the opportunity for a better life for someone else in our community.

Wondering where everything comes from? Each ReStore is unique, and donations come from all kinds of sources—from your neighbour after a finished home project, to a large restaurant chain with furniture after remodeling, or a business with overstocked or discontinued brand-new product.

Have items taking up space at your home or office? Don’t send them to the landfill or leave them as clutter in your life. Put them to good use in support of your local Habitat who is always accepting donations. Your donated items add up and work towards making a huge difference for affordable housing in your community!

Items in good re-sellable condition accepted include…

Not sure if your items are suitable for donation? It’s best to call ahead and ask if the ReStore can accept your donation.

If you do donate, you can be certain that the money generated from sales helps local families achieve the strength, stability and self reliance they need to build a better future living in the same community you do. Keep the ReStore in mind whether you’re looking to buy or donate!
