Hey, James Franco Was In Orono

Hollywood actor James Franco was in Orono Wednesday—a small town near Peterborough—filming scenes for the new Stephen King time-travel TV drama series 11/22/63 produced by J.J. Abrams.

Franco stars in the mini-series as a high school English teacher who travels back in time to try and stop the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

Great pictures were posted to the Facebook page of Silly Sisters Antique Emporium, a local store in Orono. "The crew was great and James Franco took the time to allow us to have a group shot and selfies with him and signing autographs," the Facebook page post reported.

"It was nice to see him appreciate his fans! Main Street was converted back to 1963 in Texas with vintage cars parked up and down both sides and the west side of the street's stores changed to suit the time period," according to the Facebook post.

There was excitement on Facebook with locals having James Franco fever, and also on Twitter as well about Franco coming to their small Ontario town.

"It was a great experience with the film crew and meeting the actors," Rebecca Goddard, co-owner of Silly Sisters Antique Emporium, tells PTBOCanada.

No word if Franco hit up the well known Orono tourist attraction Jungle Cat World while he was there.

Could Peterborough Be Getting A Red Nek Fries?

We spoke to the owner recently at her popular chip wagon in Orono off the 115, and she mentioned she is looking at expanding her business—perhaps to Peterborough and the Kawarthas.
