Small Business Week in Canada is October 17th to 22nd! It’s a celebration of entrepreneurship and small businesses from coast to coast. What better time to celebrate what an amazing community Peterborough & the Kawarthas is to own and operate a business in?
This supportive community has not-for-profits and professionals to help guide, build and bolster entrepreneurs on the path to success. Everywhere you look, successful small businesses are popping up. Let’s celebrate that, because chances are pretty good that you know a few of the owners.
There are a number of events taking place in the community throughout Small Business Week that we think you should know about, including:
• Monday, October 17th
An exciting announcement for local entrepreneurs will be taking place on Monday in Downtown Peterborough. Stay tuned to Facebook and Twitter throughout the day as this news unfolds. [**UPDATE: Click here for the details on an awesome Win This Space entrepreneur competition that has been launched.]
• Tuesday, October 18th
Peterborough Economic Development and the Greater Peterborough Innovation Cluster are hosting a Spotlight on Small Business, an opportunity for community members to gain insight into and inspiration from local success stories and learn about growth opportunities in our region's economy. For business owners, this event will also be an opportunity to learn about funding to start and grow their businesses.
This event is taking place at Peterborough Golf & Country Club at 1030 Armour Road on October 18th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will be a variety of sessions taking place throughout the day, so stop in for one or plan to spend the afternoon.
An annual tradition for members of the local business community, the Peterborough Business Excellence Awards hosted by the Peterborough Chamber of Commerce is an opportunity to celebrate local successes with 500 of the Peterborough-area’s business leaders.
• Saturday, October 22nd
Women Excelling in Business will be hosting "Step It Up: Women's Business Conference featuring a number of different sessions on communications, sales, customer services and community resources for small businesses.
