PTBOCanada Featured Post: Meet George Ripoll, Investment Advisor with BMO Private Wealth

With so many different options and misrepresentations being illustrated in investing, it can be tough to know where to turn in good faith when looking for help.

In an industry saturated with choices, it’s incredibly important to make the right one when dealing with your financial future. Don’t let the immense amount of letters behind his name (he holds CFA, CAIA, MBA, CIM and PFP designations) intimidate you: George Ripoll, although very well educated in the field of investing, also brings a warming personal component to all of the work that he does.

For George, the thought of a faceless fiscal relationship is unacceptable. With seven years in the industry as a Financial Planner, Investment & Retirement Planning (the last five with BMO Wealth Management as an Investment Advisor), he brings a combination of extensive education and a warming personal component to all the work that he does. He knows that his client’s comfort is just as important as their portfolio, which pushes him to provide impeccable results in both categories to his diverse group of clients.

Born and raised in Peterborough, George has made it his mission to be an active member of the community through participation on local boards. His love of sports has led him to work with many great local organizations throughout his lifetime, including that of Lakefield Chiefs Jr C Hockey Club, as well as with the Peterborough Minor Hockey and Lacrosse associations.

He also found time previously to take on positions with the Peterborough Community Futures Development Corporation. George shares the same love for his community that many of us do and continues to support the great causes that he feels make this city one of the best places to live in Canada.

When he’s not analyzing graphs or predicting the next trends in the markets, he also volunteers his time writing curriculum for the CFA Institute as a Practice Analyst, and is an active member of the CFA Society Toronto.

The CFA is short form for the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, which has been quoted as the highest distinction in the investment management profession held by only 167,000 people worldwide.

Originally an Honours of Business Administration and Economics graduate from Trent University (Hon. BBA), he continued his love affair with learning across the pond at the University of Birmingham for his Master of Business Administration (MBA), and is currently a candidate in the Master of Science in Economics and Finance at the University of Bath (MSc. Econ). In a field that continuously evolves, his love for learning bodes well when it comes to staying ahead of the curve.

With numerous opportunities to work in larger city centres and with other investment firms, George found it particularly easy to choose BMO Private Wealth when the opportunity presented itself to be situated in his hometown as an Investment Advisor. Located in the core of the business hub in the Kawartha’s at 311 George Street North, BMO Private Wealth draws attention from a diverse group of individual and institutional investors, due to it large global scale and award winning research. Taking all of this into account made it a no-brainer for him to settle down into his current role.

Aside from the vast array of in-house experts provided by BMO, George has made it a goal to partner with other highly touted professionals and businesses in the community that he believes in, to deliver the highest quality service.

George’s hope is to positively impact the lives of his clients, causing a lasting impact in the local community for years to come, which is why he believes in terming his methodology as “Impact Investing”.
