Darlene M. of Cavan is celebrating a massive win after claiming a $16 million prize in the LOTTO 6/49 Gold Ball Draw on May 30.

The 63-year-old retiree discovered her good fortune on her birthday while checking her ticket using the OLG app.

Darlene said she immediately ran into the house to tell her sister and needed to make sure what she was seeing was real.

The shock didn't end there. After sharing the news with the rest of her family, she said everyone was left in disbelief by the life-changing win.

As she begins planning for the future, Darlene says some of the money will go toward paying bills and buying a new truck. She also hopes to help her children purchase a home.

Giving back is also high on her list of priorities. Darlene said she plans to support animal welfare initiatives that are important to her.

The winning ticket was purchased at Giant Tiger on Lansdowne Street West in Peterborough, adding another big lottery win to the region in recent weeks.
