Cavan Monaghan Man Arrested For Operating Vehicle While Prohibited

A 61-year-old Cavan Monaghan Township man is facing several driving charges after a traffic stop on Wednesday morning.

At roughly 1:15 am on Wednesday, officers on general patrol spotted a vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the area of Lansdowne Street and Monaghan Road. Upon speaking with the driver, officers learned that they were a suspended and prohibited driver.

It was also learned that the driver is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while prohibited

  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

  • Improper number plate light (Highway Traffic Act)

  • Driving while under suspension (Highway Traffic Act)

The vehicle was impounded for 45 days and the accused was released on an appearance notice.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 8.
