Conflict of Interest Leads to Peace Talks Between Peterborough’s Favourite Mascots

Well Peterborough… We hope you enjoyed the ride.

Following this morning’s reports of a potential legal dispute between Lakers mascot Teddy and Petes mascot Roger, we now have an update—and a much happier ending.

It turns out that local lawyer Murray Miskin was forced to step back from the situation after declaring a conflict of interest, as Miskin Law proudly supports both the Peterborough Lakers and the Peterborough Petes.

However, not all was lost.

Instead of heading to court, Miskin helped arrange a sit-down between the two beloved mascots—and by all accounts, it went very well.

Sources say the meeting quickly shifted from ‘legal strategy’ to laughs, handshakes and putting the whole thing behind them.

In fact, the resolution may have strengthened the mascot bond:

  • Teddy has officially been invited to attend an upcoming Petes playoff game

  • Roger has confirmed he’ll be making an appearance at Teddy’s birthday party this summer at the PMC

A newly released photo shows the two mascots shaking hands, proving that in Peterborough, even the fiercest ‘rivalries’ can end with a smile.

And yes… If you hadn’t guessed by now, this was all part of an April Fools’ Day prank.

No lawsuits. No bad blood. Just two mascots, one city and a good sense of humour.
