Kawartha Lacrosse U13 Team Wins Silver at OWFL Provincials

The Kawartha Lacrosse U13 team capped off its season with a silver medal at the Ontario Women’s Field Lacrosse (OWFL) Provincial Championship in Kitchener-Waterloo last weekend.

The U13 team entered the provincial tournament after finishing the regular season with a 4-8 record, placing 13th in the 17-team league.

Kawartha advanced to the U13 B Final after a 7-3 semifinal victory over the Owen Sound North Stars. The team battled Six Nations in the championship game, falling 7-5 in a close final to earn the silver medal.

Team members included Kate Aiello, Kaylen Booth, Avery Carroll, Alice Chambers, Everlee Cook, Emma Crough, Rachel Crough, Bryce Currie, Colbie Currie, Ella Evans, Emery Evans, Kali Evans, Sloan Hickey, Hadley Hoar, Blake Johnson, Teddy Keating, Fiona King, Suzy Kingdon, Violet Lemarche, Jewel Long, Ruby McKinley, Savannah Ormond, Everleigh Prentice, Riley Temple, Vivian Van Dolder and Emma Wilson.

The team was coached by head coach Geoff McKinley, along with coaches Matt Temple and Tara King. Karen Evans served as trainer.

The U13 team’s provincial run capped off the season, while the Kawartha Lacrosse JEWL Elite team also earned a silver medal at provincials last weekend in Peterborough.

The U15 and U19 teams will compete for their provincial championships in Oakville from August 7-9.
