Newcastle Man Arrested After Drug Prescription Fraud At Pharmacy

A 41-year-old Newcastle man is facing charges including fraud and drug possession after an incident at a pharmacy on Thursday evening.

At roughly 7:30 p.m., officers were called to a pharmacy about a man attempting to pick up a fraudulent prescription. They learned that the prescription had been used several times since August. They located the man inside the store and took him into custody.

During a search after arrest, officers seized:

  • 2.6grams of Methamphetamine

  • Two knives

The man was arrested and charged with:

  • Use, deals, acts on forged document

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Methamphetamine

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 11.
