Both teams have won two games apiece and give a fresh start in the best-of-seven series. Langley won the first two games of the series but Peterborough has won two straight on back-to-back nights.

Langley started strong, ringing off four consecutive goals to lead 6-3 late into the first period. Peterborough battled back and netted three to tie the game at six going into the second stanza.

The game was evenly matched after the second as Peterborough held an 11-10 lead, scoring four of the first five goals.

Peterborough’s defence stepped up in the third, allowing only one goal to earn the 15-12 win. Lakers’ Kiel Matisz got the empty netter insurance goal with 19 seconds left to get the win. That goal assisted by Shawn Evans tied him with John Tavares for the all-time Mann Cup scoring lead at 203 points.

“It’s most important to get the two points and to get the record just comes along with how we’re playing,” said Evans. “It’s rewarding but it goes to show the great teammates that I’ve played with.”

Lakers’ Mark Matthews and Holden Cattoni each had hat tricks.

Curtis Dickson led Langley with seven points (four goals and three assists). Dane Dobbie earned a hat trick and added five assists. Thunder goaltender Frankie Scigliano made 40 saves on 55 shots.

Game five is on Wednesday night at the Memorial Centre with Game six on Friday. Whoever wins two of three games is declared the Mann Cup champion.
