Peterborough Man Arrested After Being Stopped For Impaired Driving and Possessing Cocaine

A 24-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired driving charges after an incident Wednesday evening.

At roughly 7:45 p.m., officers were called to the area of Clonsilla Avenue and Lansdowne Street in Peterborough. Officers spotted a vehicle with damage to the front of the vehicle. While speaking with the driver, officers noticed signs of impairment. During a search after arrest, officers located a quantity of cocaine and several licenses in the suspect’s name.

The man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine

  • Possess more than one license (Highway Traffic Act)

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 11.

A second man connected to the vehicle was arrested and given a ticket for public intoxication (Liquor License Control Act) after repeatedly interfering with the investigation.
