Peterborough Man Arrested After Driving With Suspended License and Providing a Fake Name

A 35-year-old Peterborough man is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop including giving a fake name and driving with a suspended license on Thursday afternoon.

At around noon, a Traffic Unit officer observed a vehicle in the area of Water Street and McDonnel Street. They initiated a traffic stop after learning the vehicle had an unconfirmed insurance status.

During the investigation, it was determined that the driver provided the officer with a false name and date of birth and was currently suspended.

The man was arrested and charged with:

  • Obstruct Police Officer

  • Operation while prohibited under the criminal code

  • Driving while under suspension (HTA)

  • Driver while under suspension – while suspended under HTA sec 41/42 (HTA)

The accused was issued an appearance notice and a 45-day vehicle impoundment notice and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 27.
