Peterborough Man Arrested For Impaired Driving After His Car Drives Onto Sidewalk and Strikes Another Vehicle

A 66-year-old Peterborough man is facing an impaired driving charge after his car ends up on the sidewalk before striking another vehicle on Saturday evening.

At roughly 10:30 p.m., the Peterborough Police Service received several 9-1-1 calls about a vehicle driving onto the sidewalk in the area of Milroy Drive and Evans Drive, striking a parked car before leaving the area.  The investigation led officers to a residence in the Cumberland Avenue and Franklin Drive area. After speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment.

The man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

  • Failure to stop after accident

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 18.
