Peterborough Man Arrested For Lunging at People With a Folding Knife

A 64-year-old Peterborough man wanted on warrants is facing a new charge of possessing a dangerous weapon after a concerned resident called police on Thursday.

At roughly 7 p.m., Community F.I.R.S.T. officers were called to the area of Lansdowne Street and Goodfellow Road about a man with a knife lunging at people. Officers were directed to a man matching the description given to police and took him into custody. During a search after arrest, officers found and seized a folding knife in the man’s pocket. No one was injured in the incident.

The man was arrested on the strength of the warrant for assault with a weapon, uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm and possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and further charged with:

  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Friday.
