Peterborough Man Charged After Being Caught Using Illegal Drugs

A 33-year-old Peterborough man is facing multiple drug charges after an investigation as part of the Safer Public Spaces initiative on Wednesday.

At roughly 1:50 pm, officers on general patrol in the Reid Street and Simcoe Street area spotted a man using drugs, approached him and took him into custody on Wednesday.

During a search after arrest, officers seized:

  • 9.1 grams of Cocaine

  • 40 Dilaudid pills

  • 3 grams of Crack Cocaine

  • 17.1 grams of Fentanyl

  • 50.8 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine

  • Prohibited switchblade knife

  • Canadian Currency

  • Credit card that had been reported stolen

The man arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Other Drugs

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine x2

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Other Drugs x2

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin)

  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 - in Canada

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

  • Failure to comply with prohibition order

The accused is currently bound by a weapons prohibition order not to possess any firearm, crossbow, prohibited weapon, restricted weapon, prohibited device, ammunition, prohibited ammunition or explosive substance.

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
