Peterborough Man Charged With Impaired Driving After Running Red Light and Hitting a Pole

A 36-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after a single-vehicle collision involving running a red light and striking a pole, early Wednesday morning.

At roughly 5:30 a.m., officers were called to Lansdowne Street and River Road South about a vehicle that ran a red light before striking a pole. Officers located a man who was out of the vehicle and being treated by paramedics. In speaking with the man, officers noticed signs of impairment.

The man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on March 24.
