Peterborough Police Lay Charges to Man Involved In Break and Enter and Theft of Electronics

A 24-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges with a break and enter early Monday morning.

Just before 3 a.m., officers were called to a break and enter to an apartment in the Goodfellow Road and Sherbrooke Street area. When officers arrived, they learned that someone had entered the apartment between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. and left with several items including a television and a computer.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., an officer on patrol in the Charlotte Street and Aylmer Street area spotted a male at the back of a building with a television matching the description of the one taken in the break-and-enter. The officer took him into custody and further discovered identification cards in the name of the victims as well as the other property reported stolen.

The man was arrested and charged with:

  • Break, Enter a place - commit indictable offence

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada

  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. 

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Monday.
